You are a river

“No one ever steps in the same river twice, for it’s not the same river and they aren’t the same person” --Heraclitus
You are a surfer, riding the wave of being human, never the same, always changing.
With every breath you take, you breathe in the air, filled with countless particles, countless micro flora and fauna. The same goes for every drink you take and every bite you eat. You are, quite literally, made of your environment. You are in constant flux: never the same from day to day.
So who is it that rides the wave? Where is the rider? Is the rider the wave itself? Are you the wave?
Where did the environment that you are made of come from? The earth. Where did the earth come from? It was formed by the galaxy: gas contracted, stars lived and died. Where did the galaxy come from… Do you see the pattern? Where does this end? Where do “you” end?
Sit and feel your breath enter and leave, changed. You affect the environment around you. You always have.
Are you leaving the place we live better or worse? Do you have a choice?
